Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle, WA is seeking an experienced Electrical Harness Design Engineer to contribute to Mk1 Vehicle Harness design. You will create wiring diagrams, 3D routed harness data with Creo, and installation drawings, impacting reusable spaceflight.

Requirements include a B.S. in a technical field, 5+ years of aerospace harness design, and familiarity with Creo, Zuken or Windchill or similar CAD tools.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Computer Engineering, or related technical subject area.
• 5+ years of experience designing Wire Harnesses for the Aerospace industry.
• Familiarity with Creo, Zuken or Windchill or experience with other high-end CAD routing software such as Unigraphics NX Electrical or Catia.
• Understanding and application of wire derating analysis.
• Familiar with harness standards IPC/WHMA-A-620A, NASA-STD-8739.4
• Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software

Responsibilities

• Design of electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication and high-speed data signal
• Selection of harness components and hardware, connectors, backshells, cable and wire
• Create Wiring diagrams utilizing Zuken E3
• Create 3D routed harness data files utilizing Creo (Pro/Engineer) Cabling
• Create harness detail and installation drawings including 2D flat harness drawings from the 3D harness data sets
• Design and integration of harness support brackets
• Support design configuration development and trade studies
• Provide technical guidance for hardware installation
• Support the assembly and testing of cables and harnesses
• Report on activity schedule and technical status
• Identify opportunities for technical improvements
