Job summary

Sewanee: The University of the South invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Environmental Humanities to begin in Fall 2027. Teaching duties include core EAH courses and candidate-area offerings, with a 3/2 load and opportunities to contribute to interdisciplinary programs on a 13,000-acre campus.

Qualifications

• Must have a terminal degree in hand by the start of appointment in August 2027.
• Interdisciplinary engagement with Environmental Humanities in scholarship.
• Relevant teaching experience.
• Evidence of curricular innovation or leadership preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach core introductory and upper-level Environmental Arts and Humanities courses.
• Teach courses in the candidate’s area of scholarship to enhance the EAH major and at least one other major or minor on campus.
• Provide mentorship to undergraduate students within the liberal arts tradition.
