Job summary

The Environmental Arts and Humanities program at the University of the South invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Environmental Humanities to begin in Fall 2027. We welcome teacher-scholars whose research engages transdisciplinary approaches across the humanities.

The successful candidate will teach core introductory and upper-level EAH courses, contribute in their area of scholarship, mentor undergraduates, and help expand curricular offerings across disciplines within

Qualifications

• Terminal degree in Environmental Humanities or related field
• Demonstrated interdisciplinary engagement with Environmental Humanities in scholarship
• Relevant teaching experience in humanities
• Evidence of curricular innovation or leadership in Environmental Humanities preferred

Responsibilities

• Teach core introductory and upper-level Environmental Arts and Humanities courses
• Teach in candidate's area of scholarship to enhance EAH and other majors/minors
• Mentor undergraduate students within the liberal arts tradition
• Contribute to curricular innovation and cross-disciplinary collaboration

Education

Terminal degree (PhD) in Environmental Humanities or related field
