The City of Loveland is seeking a Public Relations and Media Specialist to lead media relations and public information for City departments. You will act as the primary media contact, coordinate with departments, and elevate stories across media levels, while leading emergency communications as the PIO and staying on call outside business hours.

The role requires strong judgment, political awareness, and professional representation of the City.

Qualifications

• 4 Year/Bachelors Degree in Communications, public relations, journalism, emergency management, or related field.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements.
• 6 years of progressively responsible experience in media relations, public information, crisis/emergency communication, or related fields.
• 6 years of demonstrated experience serving as a Public Information Officer (PIO) for complex incidents or multi‑agency responses.

Responsabilités

• Serve as the City’s primary media relations contact and respond to inquiries.
• Draft and issue press releases, advisories, and talking points.
• Lead citywide emergency communications as the PIO during incidents.
• Provide media training and guidance to leadership and staff.
• Monitor media coverage and advise Communications leadership.
• Ensure messaging is accessible and brand-consistent across channels.
