Job summary

The Center for Human Development (CHD) in Torrington, CT is seeking an Outreach Caseworker to join the PILOTS team. You will support participants to live independently by addressing housing, health, and employment needs through motivational interviewing and harm-reduction approaches.

This role involves helping with housing stability, budgeting, entitlements, crisis intervention, and job search support; requires a high school diploma and comfort engaging clients in the community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with psychiatric disorders or co-occurring populations preferred.
• Comfort engaging clients in the community for the majority of the position.
• Field visits to surrounding communities to see clients.
• Valid vehicle and driving record check; criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Securing housing, move-in, relocations, eviction interventions, rent arrears, and housing stability.
• Assist participants with budgeting and banking.
• Help participants with obtaining and maintaining entitlements.
• Provide crisis intervention.
• Provide vocations assistance; resume writing, interview prep, and job search support.
