Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Pilot Plant Technician in Wilmington, DE!

About You

You are a self-starter who can identify, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks. You can support the operation of the Research & Development (R&D) Pilot Plant. You will work directly with engineers, scientists, leaders, and other technicians to ensure safe and proficient operation of the plants to deliver product samples and process information as requested in the planned experiments.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and field check process equipment, monitor process conditions, equipment, and control systems.
  • Perform tasks assigned to operations as per Master Task List (e.g., field checks, equipment preparation, samples).
  • Use troubleshooting skills to resolve process deviations and problems, understanding how duties relate to team operations.
  • Monitor, collect, and input plant metrics for statistical process control, asset utilization, and plant optimization.
  • Use process knowledge to improve plant performance and operational discipline, including creating and updating procedures.
  • Write Safe Work Procedures (SWPs) and perform lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Participate in root cause investigations.
  • Perform process upset/crisis response activities as assigned.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in safety standards and operate with a safety-first mindset.
  • Complete all required training as per the facility plan.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED; or an Associate’s Degree or higher in Process Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related fields.
  • 4+ years of relevant military technical experience/training, or
  • 3+ years in a chemical facility operations role or similar industry experience.
  • Willingness to work shift schedules, including 12-hour rotating shifts, overtime, and holidays.
  • Legal ability to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship support available).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in chemical, manufacturing, oil/gas, or industrial environments.
Skills and Physical Requirements
  • Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in large-scale polymer equipment and maintenance skills.
  • Experience operating continuous chemical process pilot plants and supporting chemical R&D or production.
  • Promptness, strong communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to wear safety equipment and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and working in confined spaces.
