Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all operational aspects of the plant during the work shift, including personnel and equipment safety.
- Ensure safe and efficient start-up, operation, and shutdown of chemical plant equipment from inside the control room.
- Support the Shift Supervisor and plant management by providing operational input and reporting.
- Monitor and operate all equipment for safe and efficient plant operation, including isolation and maintenance procedures.
- Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
- Safely operate on-site vehicles as required.
- Perform start-up, operation, and shutdown of equipment and systems according to approved procedures.
- Record and monitor plant parameters, making adjustments for optimal operation.
- Diagnose and address faulty equipment to restore safety and functionality.
- Monitor emissions and ensure compliance within acceptable limits.
- Notify management of abnormal situations and coordinate responses from outside the control room.
- Provide regular reports on plant status to management.
- Identify and troubleshoot potential operational or safety hazards.
- Ensure thorough handover during shift changes, including logs and key parameters.
- Perform safety system tests and equipment lockout/tagout procedures.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
- Assist in training staff and perform minor maintenance tasks as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience with Excel and Word
- 3+ years of industry experience
- Knowledge of mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical equipment
- Understanding of chemical or process demonstration unit operations
- Ability to handle emergency decommissions competently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of equipment isolation and tagging procedures
- Familiarity with plant safety equipment and procedures
- Leadership, teamwork, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Experience operating process demonstration units
- Ability to work in 24/7 shifts as needed
