Job summary

Bristol Myers Squibb Co seeks an Associate Scientist for the Pilot Plant in Devens, MA to scale-up upstream or downstream processes within Biologics Development. You’ll work with Process Development and manufacturing teams to deliver robust, economical processes for clinical and commercial supply.

Requirements include a B.S./M.S. in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering or related field and 2–4 years in Process Development, Pilot Operations, GMP manufacturing, or related areas.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related biologics fields.
• 2–4 years of industry experience in Process Development, Pilot Operations, GMP manufacturing or related field.
• Strong knowledge of upstream or downstream unit operations, including cell culture, bioreactors, harvest, chromatography and filtration.
• Experience with single-use manufacturing and automation is a plus; working knowledge of cGMP is a plus.
• Knowledge of automation, statistics, design of experiments, and data analysis is a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Execute non-GMP Pilot Scale Lab Operations as per instructions and SOPs.
• Maintain safety and a safe work environment during operations.
• Operate wave and bioreactor setups, chromatography, filtration, sample submission, and run monitoring.
• Prepare and review campaign summaries, batch records, and SOPs.
• Explore and implement new process technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for process investigations, development, scale-up, and tech transfer.
• Track scale-up data to support development of scale-down models and assist Process Development.
