Job summary

The YMCA of Catawba Valley is seeking a Group Exercise Class Instructor to lead classes in line with YMCA standards and safety guidelines. Under the direction of the Membership/Wellness Director, you will design routines, monitor safety, and engage members to promote healthy lifestyles.

Strong communication and a current YMCA instructor certification (or equivalent) are required, along with CPR/First Aid/AED.

Qualifications

• Requires YMCA Instructor certification or other nationally recognized aerobic/fitness certification.
• Current certification in CPR, First Aid, AED.
• Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and prepare class routines meeting safety guidelines.
• Attend staff meetings.
• Record class attendance in Group Ex Pro after each class.
• Secure substitutes when needed and report if unavailable.
• Start and end classes on time and maintain safe transitions.
• Maintain equipment and keep exercise area neat and safe.
• Enforce all class guidelines and report non-compliance.
• Engage members and promote programs and events.
