Job summary

The YMCA of Catawba Valley is seeking a Group Exercise Class Instructor to teach classes in accordance with YMCA standards and to serve members with the highest level of safety and engagement.

Responsibilities include designing routines, attending staff meetings, keeping certifications up to date, recording attendance, securing substitutes when needed, starting/ending on time, maintaining equipment, and promoting YMCA programs and values.

Qualifications

• Must be aligned with YMCA mission and values.
• Strong communication and engagement with staff and members.
• Demonstrated teamwork and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Design and prepare class routines meeting safety guidelines and current practices.
• Attend staff meetings.
• Complete all required education and training; keep certifications current.
• Record class attendance immediately after class.
• Arrange substitutes and report to leadership if none is available.
• Start and end classes on time with safe transitions.
• Maintain equipment and keep group exercise area neat and clean.
• Enforce class guidelines and report non-compliance.
• Support branch events, programs and member promotions.
• Communicate information about programs and promotions to members.
• Understand and communicate branch emergency procedures.
• Support the YMCA's mission, values and culture.
• Provide a safe, inclusive environment and maintain professional boundaries.
