Job summary

St. David’s North Austin Medical Center in Texas is seeking a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse (RN) to assess patients on admission, develop and update care plans, administer treatments, and educate families. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality care.

The role requires 2 years of RN experience, ADN required with BSN preferred, and Texas RN licensure with BLS and PALS certifications. CC RN and CPN are preferred.

Qualifications

• 2 years of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Experience in an acute care setting – preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document patient assessments at the time of admission.
• Create a plan of care, including discharge plans, revise plans based on patient response and regularly evaluate plans for effectiveness.
• Document the outcomes of nursing interventions and patient responses.
• Ensure physician orders are noted and correctly transcribed.
• Provide educational materials to patients and families on care and treatments.
• Keep physicians and supervisors aware of significant information regarding the patient and family.
• Administer medications and complete treatments according to hospital policy.
• Delegate work appropriately to non-licensed staff in accordance with standards of practice.

Education

Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN)

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – preferred
