Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago seeks a highly qualified Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for the Pediatric ICU to deliver frontline, patient-centered care in a dynamic urban setting.

The APP will assess, diagnose, treat, and educate families as part of a multidisciplinary ICU team. The role involves ventilator management, hemodynamic support, and collaboration with surgeons and specialists.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of PICU RN experience preferred (APRN Candidates)
  • PICU APP Clinical Rotation completed during graduate education
  • Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certification required (APRN Candidates)
  • Licensure in the State of Illinois as an APRN required
  • Credentialing by Medical Staff Office required
  • Basic Life Support certification and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification required
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Provides expert clinical care, education, consultation, advocacy research, leadership and mentorship.
  • Manages primary, acute and chronic health problems through comprehensive history and physical examination assessment and diagnosis.
  • Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures.
  • Orders and prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and performs other therapeutic or corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status.
  • Promotes the advancement of the profession at Lurie Children’s and the community-at-large.
  • Collaborates and coordinates care with medical team to deliver evidenced-based care and establish best practices in clinical care.
  • Participates in research design, implementation, and interpretation.
  • Meets the Medical Staffs Allied Health Practitioners core measures of performance.
  • Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork.
  • Role may include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
