Job summary

YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties seeks a part-time Music Instructor to create engaging lessons and foster a strong foundation in music for students from preschool to adult. You will plan progressive classes, demonstrate musical technique, and monitor student progress in a supportive environment.

The role emphasizes inclusive teaching, safety training, and collaboration with Arts Director to align with YMCA core values and community programs at Pearl Street Family YMCA in Tacoma.

Qualifications

• 5 years of formal music training or comparable experience.
• 1–2 years of experience as a music teacher or teaching assistant.
• Experience teaching preschool through adult levels is preferred.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certifications preferred.
• Must complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day.

Responsibilities

• Developing lesson plans.
• Demonstrating sound, technical and artistic principles.
• Providing an impactful experience to students.
• Monitoring student progress.
• Communicating program information to students and parents.
