Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a part-time Dance Instructor to lead a variety of classes at the Bremerton Family YMCA in Bremerton, WA. The role involves delivering engaging instruction, planning progressive lessons, and supporting performances and events.

You will work with diverse ages, develop creative curricula, and ensure safety and sanitation standards while upholding YMCA values and mission.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 16 years of age or older.
• 5+ years of formal dance training or comparable experience.
• 1-2 years of experience as a dance teacher and/or teaching assistant preferred.
• Knowledge to teach preschool and beginning-level dance classes; multiple disciplines preferred.
• Ability to create engaging lesson plans reflecting level, ability and YMCA curricula.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications preferred/required.

Responsibilities

• Lead dance technique classes and demonstrate positive dance principles.
• Create class lesson plans with progression aligned to ages and abilities.
• Choreograph and contribute to annual recitals and events.
• Communicate student progress to youth/arts director and members.
• Attend staff trainings and meetings; support campaign goals and YMCA events.
• Ensure cleaning and sanitation protocols are followed.
