A leading healthcare provider seeks an addiction psychiatrist to deliver comprehensive clinical services to Veterans. Duties
The incumbent serves as an addiction psychiatrist and provides both general and addiction specific psychiatric care services for the Mental Health Care Line (MHCL) at the Department of Veterans Affairs Tennessee Valley Healthcare System, {VA TVHS). Incumbent provides comprehensive clinical services to Veterans and their families within the MHCL.

Duties: Performs addictions and general psychiatric assessment and treatment In a multi-disciplinary setting composed of psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric social workers, nurse practitioners, psychopharmacologists, Peer Supports, and addiction therapist. Will work closely with his/her colleagues to provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art addiction focused mental health care. Is a key participant in the implementation of the principles of Advanced Clinic Access in mental health. Shall work under the direction of the Addiction Treatment Services Program Manager, MHCL. Routine work is performed with minimum supervision. Is required to perform duties on his/her own initiative. Operates in a manner promoting success in all applicable performance measures and ensuring compliance with all applicable accreditation standards. Shall act in a thoroughly professional manner at all times. He/she shall work in harmony with other members of the professional and technical staff; tact and courtesy are mandatory when interacting with patients and staff.
a. The Incumbent will provide treatment for beneficiaries with addiction-based and general psychiatric disorders, primarily in a outpatient treatment setting but to also include inpatient call and other coverage as needed. Tele-Mental Health will be used as appropriate based on patient needs.
b. The incumbent must be skilled in Psychotherapy and Psychopharmacology, and must be able to provide a comprehensive clinical summary/psychiatric summary.
c. The incumbent must collaborate with approved fee-based community Mental Health (MH) inpatient programs to assist/coordinate discharge planning, medication, and follow-up appointments, as well as, coordinate with ambulatory care services, as appropriate.
d. The incumbent ensures accreditation requirements are met for all applicable survey and inspection processes, to Include, but not limited to, compliance with JCAHO, CARF, and OIG.
e. The incumbent shall document patient care in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS). Training regarding the use of CPRS along with all applicable expectations for content, timeliness and other standards will be provided by the VAMC. All documentation shall be completed in accordance with VA policy and procedures.
f. The incumbent shall follow all VA guidelines regarding infection control and safety.
g. The incumbent will be assigned to treatment teams and adhere to team meeting responsibilities.
h. The incumbent will provide comprehensive clinical psychiatric evaluations, treatment evaluations, treatment plans, and treatment.
i. The incumbent may be required to write admission orders for either campus with transfer orders.
j. The incumbent will adhere to all quality management performance measures which will be reviewed monthly through peer reviews:
