Summary
The Lebanon VA Medical Center is recruiting for Psychiatrists to work within the Behavioral Health Service Line. Note: This is an open continuous announcement until September 30, 2025. Qualified applicants will be considered and referred as vacancies become available.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed VA physicians who met the requirements for appointment under the previous standard are deemed to have met the basic requirements.
Basic Requirements:
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved medical school.
- Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
- Residency Training: Completion of an approved residency program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Residents enrolled in approved residency programs are eligible for appointment as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs).
- PRPs must be fully licensed physicians and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Preferred Experience: Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrist.
- Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, use of fingers, walking, standing, bending, visual and auditory requirements, and mental stability.
Duties
- Provide psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and planning for Veterans and eligible individuals.
- Participate in physician peer reviews, facility committees, performance improvement programs, and on-call duties.
- Perform psychiatric evaluations, manage medications, conduct suicide risk assessments, and provide crisis intervention.
- Ensure practice compliance with applicable policies and guidelines.
- Offer psycho-diagnostic services and participate in team meetings and treatment planning.
- Order tests and consultations, and make treatment decisions.
- May serve as a mental health team leader and participate in supervision and teaching.
- Practice in areas such as depression, anxiety, psychosis, PTSD, substance use disorder, and other psychiatric disorders, primarily in outpatient settings.
- Maintain the ability to prescribe Suboxone.
- Participate in on-call and walk-in rounds on a rotational schedule.
- Work Schedule: Typically 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with potential weekend and evening hours as needed.
