Summary

This position is located at various Indian Health Service Hospitals or Clinics under the Navajo Area Office. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a technical expert within the specialty area of Pediatrics.

Duties

• Responsible for the practice of medicine or direct services to patients involving diagnostic, preventative, or therapeutic services in hospitals and clinics.
• Prescribe or administer treatments, therapies, medications, vaccinations, and other specialized medical care.
• Order, perform, interpret tests, and analyze records to diagnose patient conditions.
• Maintain patient information, monitor progress, and re-evaluate treatments as necessary.
• Explain procedures and discuss test results or treatments with patients.
• Coordinate with healthcare professionals in providing health services.

Requirements

Conditions of Employment

Qualifications

Basic requirements include:

• Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited school.
• Valid medical license.
• At least 1 year of supervised clinical experience post-degree.

Minimum qualifications for GS-14 include:

• 4 years of graduate training or equivalent experience in Pediatrics.

Applicants completing a training program expected to finish within 9 months may apply with a letter from their program confirming their expected completion date.
