Job description

Summary

This position is located at the Samuel S. Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, NY. The Pain Management Program Director provides leadership for the Pain Management Program, overseeing clinical care, pain procedures, and administrative functions including quality assurance.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license completion applicants may be considered. Current VA employees who met the initial requirements are deemed qualified.

Basic Requirements
  1. U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible)
  2. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved school
  3. Current unrestricted medical or surgical license in the U.S.
  4. Residency training approved by the VA, leading to board eligibility
  5. Enrolled residents in approved programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who are fully licensed but not independent practitioners
  6. Proficiency in English
  7. Preferred: Board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with subspecialty in Pain Management
  8. Physical capability to perform duties, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching
Duties
  1. Provide clinical, educational, and administrative leadership in pain management
  2. Manage the Pain Management Program, including research, accreditation, and resource management
  3. Ensure compliance with all relevant standards and regulations
  4. Collaborate with quality management and serve as liaison to the Office of Pain Management
  5. Maintain faculty appointment at Albany Medical College
  6. Other duties as assigned
