Overview

PHYSICIAN (OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE) — This position is located at Naval Health Clinic Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina. Serve as a Physician (Occupational Medicine) in the Directorate of Clinical Support, Occupational Medicine Branch at Naval Health Clinic Charleston in Charleston, SC. Hours are Monday-Friday between 0630-1600. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation using DHA for Certain DoD personnel to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Responsibilities

• Perform occupational physical examinations of various types including pre-placement, medical surveillance, medical qualification, disability retirement, fitness for duty, and other required examinations.
• Coordinate with facility and community resources to provide comprehensive work-related care to employees.
• Notify management of exam results and recommend appropriate work restrictions or accommodations.
• Interpret ancillary test results for evidence of possible occupational disease or confounding personal health conditions.
• Diagnose and appropriately consult for follow-up evaluations for conditions discovered through occupational medical examinations.
• Evaluate and treat on-the-job illnesses and injuries, stabilize and transfer those with urgent or life-threatening conditions, and assist in self-care transfer activities.
• Conduct periodic worksite visits.
• Develop and oversee medical surveillance and medical qualification programs.
• Serve as a member of the professional medical staff and provide advisory and consultative services on meetings, committees, conferences, and boards.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience may include paid and unpaid experience, volunteer work, and other qualifying activities. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; transcripts may be required if qualifying based on education.

Basic Requirement for Physician (Occupational Medicine):

Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from an accredited school. The degree must be accredited by the appropriate U.S. or Canadian medical education bodies. Foreign medical degrees must have equivalency demonstrated by ECFMG certification, fifth pathway, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. A copy of transcripts or proof of foreign equivalency must be attached with the application package.

Licensure: Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a U.S. state, D.C., Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.

Graduate Training: After medical degree, at least one year of supervised clinical experience (internship or first year of residency) in an accredited program.

Residency Training (required for the position): Successful completion of an accredited residency in Preventive Medicine, Aerospace Medicine, or Occupational Medicine, and equivalent experience and training totaling at least 4 years. Experience may not substitute for required residency training.
