Qualifications

• Massachusetts medical license and DEA registration; credentialing for Salem Hospital and affiliated facilities.
• Experience managing complex conditions in older adults in SNF/long-term care settings.
• Strong clinical judgment and familiarity with quality metrics and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Role Description

We are seeking a physician interested in the flexible scheduled offered in the skilled nursing facility setting. Medical director stipend opportunity is available. No call responsibilities! This could be contractor, part time or full time employment with a generous compensation model.

Skilled nursing facilities are located in the Newton/Framingham, MA area.

Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting patient assessments, managing acute and chronic conditions, coordinating treatment plans, and ensuring continuity of care from hospital to post-acute settings. The physician will collaborate closely with nursing staff, rehabilitation teams, case managers, and families to optimize patient outcomes and support safe transitions of care. Additional duties include documentation in the medical record (Epic), participation in care conferences, adherence to regulatory and quality standards, and engagement in performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution and completion of an approved residency in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or a related specialty.
• Board certification or board eligibility in an appropriate primary care or geriatric discipline; additional training or experience in geriatrics or post-acute care is highly beneficial.
• Current or eligible Massachusetts medical license, DEA registration, and ability to meet credentialing requirements for Salem Hospital and affiliated facilities.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex medical conditions in older adults or medically fragile populations in skilled nursing, long-term care, or similar settings.
• Strong clinical judgment, diagnostic skills, and familiarity with evidence-based practices, quality metrics, and regulatory standards for skilled nursing facilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and engage patients and families in care decisions.
• Effective time management, reliability in on-site presence, and comfort with electronic health records and related clinical documentation systems.
