Job summary

Yale New Haven Health seeks a Physician in Emergency Medicine for per diem coverage in Bridgeport, CT. Day and Evening shifts available; 40 scheduled hours per week.

You will evaluate patients, order and interpret diagnostics, involve families in care decisions, and create treatment plans within our comprehensive health system. Qualifications include MD or DO with ABIM- or ABFM-accredited residency, board certification, CT medical license, BLS, and DEA registration.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with ABIM-recognized internal medicine residency (three years minimum) or ABFM-recognized family medicine residency (three years minimum).
• Board certification in internal medicine or family medicine.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients, and treat acute and chronic illnesses
• Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic tests
• Involves patients and their families in care and treatment decisions
• Creates treatment plans and completes orders in patient's charts
• Collaborates on improvements in care delivery and service with staff, other physicians and management
• Initiates appropriate specialty referrals
• Provides clinical information to the interdisciplinary team in a clear and timely manner
• Ensures that proper patient documentation is timely, accurate and complete
• Works with practice management to ensure proper compliance with billing, coding and CPT code assignment
• Achieves and maintains optimal patient access
• Provides interdepartmental medical consultation as requested
• Participates in the development of medical protocols, standard procedures and management

Qualifications

Education

• Degree of MD or DO with ABIM-recognized internal medicine residency (three years minimum) or ABFM-recognized family medicine residency (three years minimum)

Licensure

• Valid American Board certification in either internal medicine or family medicine and renewed (if needed) prior to expiration. Valid and unrestricted Connecticut medical license BLS certification. Valid DEA registration and Controlled Substance Certificate.
