Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health's Bridgeport Hospital seeks an Emergency Medicine physician to join our ED team. The role involves rapid evaluation and stabilization of critical conditions across adult and pediatric patients, with a focus on patient-centered care and efficient triage.

Board-certified or eligible physicians in Emergency Medicine are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have MD/DO, CT licensure, and proficiency in ACLS/ATLS/PALS, along with strong documentation and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school with an MD/DO/MBBS degree and completion of EM training with board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine.
  • One year of related experience preferred.
  • Licensed as an MD in Connecticut; CT licensure required.

Responsibilities

  • Rapid evaluation and stabilization of critical conditions in adult and pediatric patients in the ED and related areas.
  • Obtain comprehensive history, perform focused exams, document findings and plans.
  • Efficiently manage multiple patients per shift and prioritize based on severity.

Responsibilities
  • 1.Rapid evaluation and stabilization of critical conditions involving adult, pediatric, medical, surgical, gynecologic and obstetrical illnesses and trauma-related injuries. Resuscitation of acutely ill and injured patients in all ED clinical areas: the main ED, Fast Track and ED Crisis.
  • 2.Obtain a complete patient history of the present medical illness, past medical history, review of systems, and medication list and allergies. Perform a vectored physical examination based on the presenting complaint may include performing a pelvic exam, trauma examination or pediatric assessment. Accurately document patient findings of the physical examination, history, allergies, treatment, response to treatment, and consultants' reports in a timely manner.
  • 3.Clinically efficient and evaluates an appropriate number of patients per shift and can simultaneously manage multiple patients. Selects the next patient to be seen based on the severity or condition and complaint.
Qualifications

EDUCATION

Graduation from an accredited medical school with an M.D., D.O., or MBBS degree and completion of an approved Emergency Medicine training program with board certification or board eligibility in Emergency Medicine, or completion of an approved Pediatric Residency training program with acute care experience, board certification or board eligibility in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, or completion of a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship training.

EXPERIENCE

One year of related experience preferred.

LICENSURE

M.D. or D. O. degree

SPECIAL SKILLS

Management of acutely ill and injured patients of all ages. Skills that are included in basic and advanced cardiac life support, advanced trauma life support, basic life support, and pediatric advanced life support courses are examples of some of the skills required. Proficiency in the use the departmental computer for patient management, order entry, patient tracking, and laboratory, radiology, and medical record retrieval is essential. Licensure & Certification: Licensed as an MD in Connecticut. Certificates to dispense controlled substances by the federal Drug Enforcement Agency and a permit from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Affairs.
