Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network seeks a Physician Coder to code and abstract physician services performed in the hospital setting, ensuring data quality and compliance with ICD-9/10, CPT and HCPCS guidelines.

You will collaborate with Medical Records, Finance and Physician Billing to maintain accurate information flow. Maintain high accuracy and productivity, performing timely data entry and ensuring compliant coding practices across inpatient and observation services.

Qualifications

• RHIA, RHIT, CPC or CCS-P with working knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding.
• Minimum 1–3 years experience in CPT/HCPCS physician procedural coding.
• Experience with computerized patient records and coding systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Codes and abstracts hospital physician services per ICD-9/ICD-10, CPT-4, HCPCS and CMS guidelines.
• Maintains 95% coding accuracy and daily productivity.
• Keeps up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines for hospital services.
• Performs data entry of abstracted physician information into databases.
• Conducts educational sessions to medical staff on coding and documentation.
