Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network seeks a qualified Health Information Coder to code and abstract diagnosis and procedure data from patient records. You will verify ICD-10-CM/PCS codes using the 3M Encoder and assign MS-DRGs as appropriate.

You must maintain 95% data quality and meet productivity targets while collaborating with HIM, Admissions, and Finance. RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC credentials or eligibility with a year to credential attainment are required.

Qualifications

• RHIA, RHIT, CCS, and/or CPC credential from an accredited program (eligible or must obtain within one year).
• Minimum 1 year ICD-10-CM inpatient/outpatient coding in an acute care setting.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Code and abstract diagnosis and procedure information from patient records.
• Utilize the 3M Encoder to verify ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and DRG assignments.
• Maintain 95% data quality coding accuracy as measured by quarterly reviews.
• Maintain daily productivity and turnaround times per department plan.
• Coordinate with Health Information/Medical Records, Admissions and Finance to ensure data flow.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with safety and release policies.
• Participate in department meetings and training sessions.
