Summary

This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until December 8, 2025. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applicants will be May 18, 2025, with subsequent cut-off dates every two weeks. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur until the position is filled.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensure may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. VA physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited.
• Degree of doctor of medicine or equivalent from an approved school.
• Current, full, and unrestricted medical license.
• Residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification.
• Enrolled residents in ACGME/AOA accredited programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs).
• PRPs must be fully licensed and appointed on an intermittent or fee basis, not considered independent practitioners.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Physical requirements include ability to perform duties in a hospital setting, moderate lifting, reaching, standing, kneeling, and visual and hearing capabilities.

Duties

The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System seeks a Physician to serve as the Clinical Director of the Cardiology Division. Responsibilities include clinical leadership, teaching, mentoring, supporting research, and participating in outpatient and inpatient services. The division performs advanced procedures including Watchman implants, TAVR, and TEER, and is affiliated with the University of Arizona.
