The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVACHS) is seeking a Physician to serve as the Clinical Director of the Cardiology Division. Commitment to excellence in patient care and an interest in teaching are essential. A record of contribution to the scientific literature is preferred. The division chief will contribute to clinical, educational, administrative, and research activities, including mentoring and supporting division research. Responsibilities include managing clinical and educational assignments, supporting administrative functions, and participating in outpatient and inpatient services, including a hospitalist service that reduces inpatient care demands.
We have added a full-time physician position, accommodating a division chief with any subspecialty interest such as advanced echocardiography, cardiac imaging, heart failure, consult service leadership, interventional and/or structural cardiology. Procedures performed include Watchman implants, TAVR, and TEER.
The Tucson VA is a tertiary care facility offering complex procedures like coronary angioplasty, electrophysiology, cardiac surgery, and more. It is a recipient of the Robert W. Carey Performance Excellence Award and is planning a new subspecialty building.
SAVACHS is affiliated with the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. Candidates must be eligible for a faculty appointment to facilitate teaching roles.
The candidate is expected to participate in quality improvement, ensure compliance with regulations, supervise trainees, and maintain certifications. Administrative experience is preferred.
