Summary

The Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center is recruiting for a full-time Non-Invasive Cardiologist to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients at the VA hospital in Spokane, WA. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Please see the 'Duties' section below for more details.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be considered tentatively but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial qualification standards are deemed qualified.

Basic Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may be appointed only when qualified citizens are unavailable, per VA policy.
• Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an approved medical school.
• Full, unrestricted medical or surgical license in the U.S.
• Completion of residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification. Residency must be accredited by ACGME, AOA, or deemed equivalent by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.
• Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed physicians and are not considered independent practitioners.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Board eligibility/certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine is required.
• Physical requirements include light lifting, reaching, walking, standing, and visual and auditory acuity, among others.

Duties

• Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient cardiovascular services, including diagnosis, treatment, and management.
• Collaborate with staff, attend meetings, serve on committees, and participate in quality assurance and performance improvement programs.
• Perform and interpret cardiology procedures and tests, including echocardiograms, ECGs, Holter monitors, and stress tests.
• Contribute to medical education, participate in evaluations, and maintain necessary credentials and licenses.
• Participate in VA Total Rewards Program, including potential incentives, relocation assistance, and EDRP eligibility.
