Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), which offers student loan repayment assistance. Eligibility requirements apply, and applications must be submitted within four months of appointment. The program's award amount can be up to $200,000, with an eligibility period of one to five years, subject to review by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Duties and Benefits

• Consultative services for outpatient cardiology referrals, managing conditions like heart failure, chest pain, coronary artery disease, valvular disease, and cardiomyopathy.
• Interpretation of echocardiograms, EKGs, ambulatory cardiac monitors, and stress tests.
• Apply ACC/AHA and VA guidelines for cardiovascular disease management.
• Preoperative cardiovascular risk stratification.
• Collaborate with cardiology PA-Cs at Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center.
• Participate in cardiology fellowship activities and committee meetings.
• Perform chart reviews and conduct patient care via face-to-face and telehealth modalities.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and proficiency in English.
• Full, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
• Completion of accredited residency training in cardiology.
• Board eligibility or certification in cardiology preferred.
• Physical ability to perform duties, including standing, walking, lifting, and patient handling.

Education

• Doctor of Medicine or osteopathic medicine from an accredited school.
• Foreign graduates must verify ECFMG certification.
