Job description

Summary

VISN 23 Specialty Medicine Cardiologist is responsible for providing consultation and ongoing care for various cardiovascular disease states, including diagnosis and treatment in inpatient, outpatient, and telehealth settings. The position is based at the Minneapolis VAHCS.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license completion may be considered, but employment is contingent upon meeting all requirements. Current VA employees who met the initial qualification standards are deemed qualified.

Basic Requirements include:

  • U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if no qualified citizens are available)
  • Medical degree from an approved school
  • Unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
  • Completed residency training approved by the VA
  • English proficiency

Preferred Experience: 3-5 years of cardiology experience, telehealth experience recommended.

Duties
  • Provide cardiology consultation and continuity care, including virtual and in-person services
  • Utilize clinical telehealth tools to improve access
  • Participate in referral and follow-up processes
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers and trainees
  • Interpret cardiac studies such as EKGs, stress tests, echocardiograms, and device evaluations
  • Manage patient health, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and document care
  • Engage in patient education and health promotion
  • Perform other duties as assigned
