Qualifications

• Certified CPC required (AAPC).
• Bachelor’s degree in HIM, healthcare administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of total relevant experience; 1+ year in a supervisory role preferred.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS and CMS payer requirements.
• Proficient in Excel and data reporting.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team of certified coding staff, including training, scheduling, coaching, and performance management.
• Monitor coding productivity, quality, turnaround times, and work queue volumes to meet departmental goals.
• Oversee daily coding operations and assign work based on priorities and staffing needs.
• Serve as a resource for coding staff, physicians, and departments on documentation and coding questions.
• Conduct coding audits and quality reviews to ensure compliance with guidelines and regulations.
• Identify trends and performance issues and provide training or corrective action as needed.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and adherence to payer requirements and coding standards.
• Develop and maintain coding procedures and training materials.
• Collaborate with leadership to improve workflows and drive process improvements.
