Qualifications

• Three years' experience in medical billing with active ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding.
• Experience with CMS/Medicare regulations and 3rd party reimbursement.
• Coding Certification through AAPC or AHIMA.
• Ability to act independently in coding, analyzing, reconciling, and updating billing activity.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multi-task and manage priorities.
• Conscientious work habits and dependability.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate outpatient physician charge capture.
• Abstract and interpret medical record data to assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes per CMS guidelines.
• Review documentation for accuracy and compliance in billing codes.
• Collect and report missing or incorrect charge slips and maintain follow-up binder.
• Correct claim errors related to coding in work queues.
• Work on resolving coding denials.
• Educate providers and staff on proper workflows and coding practices.
• Attend training on current coding practices to stay updated.
• Maintain CEU requirements for AAPC or AHIMA.
