Job summary

Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL seeks a Medical Records coder who can accurately assign ICD-10-CM-PCSC and CPT-4 codes based on patient charts using 3M encoder/Epic.

Requires RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification and minimum 3 years of medical record coding experience; high school diploma; strong terminology knowledge; detail-oriented and able to work in a hospital setting. Full-time, 8-hour shift (7:00 AM–3:30 PM) in Medical Records.

Qualifications

• RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS certification required.
• Minimum 3 years of medical record coding experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy/physiology.
• Proficient with Windows applications, Outlook, WebEx and related apps.
• Ability to concentrate and work independently in a private space.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM-PCSC and CPT-4 codes to patient charts with precision.
• Abstract data items and enter in 3M encoder/Epic software accurately.
• Complete UHDDS data abstraction as required.
• Maintain a log of work performed and accuracy.
• Perform other duties as directed by management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• High School (GED) required
• RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS Certification required
• Minimum 3 Years Experience In Medical Record Coding Required
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology required
• Windows applications, Outlook, WebEx and other apps as needed to perform role
