AtlantiCare is seeking a Physician Assistant for an Urgent Care role in Somers Point, NJ. The PA will perform diagnostic and therapeutic tasks under supervision, assist in data gathering for treatment plans, and advocate for patients within the medical care system.

Required are a bachelor’s degree in a physical science, completion of an accredited PA/surgical assistant program, NCCPA/NJ licensure eligibility, ACLS (not needed in Urgent Care per policy), and BLS/HCP.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a physical science is required.
• Completion of an accredited physician assistant/surgical assistant program is required.
• Licenses/Certifications: Must be certified or eligible for certification by NCCPA and NJ State Board; ACLS and BLS/HCP required.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic and therapeutic tasks under surgeon/anesthesiologist supervision.
• Assists in gathering data for implementation of therapeutic plans.

Job Description

ROLE DESCRIPTION POSITION SUMMARY The Physician Assistant performs diagnostic and therapeutic tasks under the supervision and responsibility of the surgeon or anesthesiologist. The Physician Assistant assists in gathering the data necessary for implementation of the surgeons or anesthesiologists therapeutic plan. This position is also responsible for acting as the patients advocate in the medical care system, serving as advisor and liaison between patients and physicians. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in a physical science from an accredited institution required. Completion of an accredited physician assistant/surgical assistant program also required.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Must be certified or eligible for certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants and the New Jersey State Board of Education and Licensure. Appointment as an Allied Health Practitioner with the in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws. ACLS required. ACLS is not required in Urgent Care Settings. BLSHCP required. EXPERIENCE: Minimum two years recent experience in cardiacthoracic surgery and/or surgery required. Proficiency in Clinical Applications prefeed at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
