AtlantiCare is seeking a Physician Assistant to support cardiothoracic surgical teams. The PA will perform diagnostic and therapeutic tasks under supervision, gather data for treatment plans, and advocate for patients while coordinating with physicians. Requires a PA/Surgical PA program, NCCPA and NJ licensure, ACLS, and BLS/HCP. Position notes a partial hybrid structure with mixed virtual and in-person duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a physical science from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an accredited physician assistant/surgical assistant program.
• Certification by NCCPA and NJ State Board of Education and Licensure.
• ACLS and BLS/HCP certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic tasks under surgeon/anesthesiologist supervision.
• Assist in gathering data for implementation of treatment plans.

ATLANTICARE _____________________________________________ROLE DESCRIPTION POSITION SUMMARY The Physician Assistant performs diagnostic and therapeutic tasks under the supervision and responsibility of the surgeon or anesthesiologist. The Physician Assistant assists in gathering the data necessary for implementation of the surgeons or anesthesiologists therapeutic plan. This position is also responsible for acting as the patient’s advocate in the medical care system, serving as advisor and liaison between patients and physicians. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Bachelors’ degree in a physical science from an accredited institution required. Completion of an accredited physician assistant/surgical assistant program also required. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Must be certified or eligible for certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants and the New Jersey State Board of Education and Licensure. Appointment as an Allied Health Practitioner with the in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws. ACLS required. ACLS is not required in Urgent Care Settings. BLSHCP required.

This position will be structured as 0.6 virtual and 0.4 Inboxologist.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum two years recent experience in cardiacthoracic surgery and/or surgery required. Proficiency in Clinical Applications prefeed at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
