Job summary

Ortho Rhode Island is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join its Ortho RI Express team. The PA will provide care at Providence and Warwick locations, focusing on urgent musculoskeletal injuries in an orthopedic urgent care setting.

The role requires NCCPA certification, RI PA license, and DEA; one year of orthopedic or ER experience is preferred. Benefits include five weeks PTO and CE allowance, with a Monday–Friday schedule and some evenings.

Qualifications

• NCCPA certification is required.
• Rhode Island PA license required.
• DEA license required.
• Minimum of one-year orthopedic or emergency room experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents history and physicals of walk-in patients.
• Evaluates and treats musculoskeletal injuries including sprains and fractures.
• Performs in-office procedures such as cast/splint placements and wound care.
• Orders X-rays and other diagnostic tests as needed.
• Assists physicians in addressing urgent patient needs and coordinates follow-up.
• Maintains accurate patient records and documents treatments in the chart.

Summary:

The provider will assess and treat urgent musculoskeletal injuries in an orthopedic urgent care setting. The work schedule is Monday-Friday, with some evenings required; exact hours will be discussed with the candidate and offer some flexibility.

• Performs and documents history and physicals of walk-in patients
• Evaluates and treats injuries including sprains, strains, fractures, wound care and post op problems
• Performs in-office procedures such as cast/splint placements, wound care and managing infection
• Orders X-rays and other diagnostic tests as needed
• Consistently and accurately documents all calls, treatments, medications, etc. in patient chart
• Instructs and counsels patients regarding diagnosis and follow up steps
• Responds to all patient questions
• Assists physicians in addressing urgent patient needs as necessary
• Maintains clinical information with additions/corrections as needed
• Consults with an orthopedic surgeon as needed
• Performs other duties/projects as assigned
