Job summary

Ortho Rhode Island in Providence is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join the Ortho RI Express team. You will provide care at the Providence and Warwick locations, focusing on urgent musculoskeletal injuries in an orthopedic urgent care setting.

The ideal candidate is NCCPA certified, licensed in Rhode Island, and has orthopedic or ER experience. You will perform histories and exams, castings, wound care, orders, and assist physicians, with some evenings and a Monday–Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• Must be NCCPA certified.
• Rhode Island PA license required.
• Experience in orthopedic or emergency room preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess and treat urgent musculoskeletal injuries in orthopedic urgent care.
• Perform history and physicals of walk-in patients.
• Evaluate and treat injuries including sprains, strains, fractures, wound care and post-op problems.
• Perform in-office procedures such as cast/splint placements and wound care.
• Order X-rays and other diagnostic tests as needed.
• Document all visits and treatments in patient chart.
• Instruct and counsel patients regarding diagnosis and follow-up steps.
• Assist physicians in addressing urgent patient needs.
• Consult with an orthopedic surgeon as needed.
