Job summary

Ortho Rhode Island, located in Warwick, RI, has an excellent opportunity for a per diem Physician Assistant to join its Ortho RI Express team. The PA will provide care at the Warwick location, assessing and treating urgent musculoskeletal injuries in an orthopedic urgent care setting.

The role requires NCCPA certification, RI PA license, and DEA, with a preference for at least one year of orthopedic or ER experience.

Qualifications

• NCCPA Certified.
• Rhode Island PA license.
• DEA license.
• Minimum of one-year orthopedic or emergency room experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents history and physicals of walk-in patients.
• Evaluates and treats injuries including sprains, strains, fractures, wound care and post op problems.
• Performs in-office procedures such as cast/splint placements, wound care and managing infection.
• Orders X-rays and other diagnostic tests as needed.
• Documents all calls, treatments, medications, etc. in patient chart.
• Instructs and counsels patients regarding diagnosis and follow up steps.
• Responds to patient questions.
• Assists physicians in addressing urgent patient needs as necessary.
• Maintains clinical information with additions/corrections as needed.
• Consults with an orthopedic surgeon as needed.
• Performs other duties/projects as assigned.
