Penn State Health’s Pediatric Neurology group seeks a Physician Assistant with interest in headaches, tic disorders, and epilepsy. The patient population ranges newborns to 18 years old.

Most duties are outpatient with some inpatient coverage, including ED consultations and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit support. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team of pediatric neurologists, NPs, PAs, care coordinators and nursing staff, and may help develop new pediatric neurology programs aligned

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program or baccalaureate or higher degree program that meets licensure requirements in the State of employment.
  • National Certification in State of employment or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in the State of employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Responsibilities

  • Outpatient focus with some inpatient responsibilities, including Emergency Department consultations and coverage of the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU).
  • Provide care for referrals for new neurologic concerns and ongoing management of chronic conditions in pediatric patients.
  • Collaborate with pediatric neurologists, NPs, PAs, care coordinators and nursing staff in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Develop and expand pediatric neurology programs and services based on provider interests and expertise

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Penn State Health’s Pediatric Neurology group is seeking a Physician Assistant with an interest in headache, tic disorders, and epilepsy. The patient population includes newborns through 18 years of age.
This position is primarily outpatient with some inpatient responsibilities, including Emergency Department consultations and coverage of the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU). The role will involve seeing referrals for new neurologic concerns as well as providing ongoing management of chronic conditions.
There are opportunities to develop new programs and areas of clinical practice based on the provider’s interests and expertise. The successful candidate will work alongside a supportive team of pediatric neurologists, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, care coordinators, and nursing staff.
Our collaborative practice environment includes an epilepsy monitoring unit, ketogenic diet team, neuromodulation team, and a dedicated team of epileptologists, providing an enriching opportunity to develop expertise in pediatric neurology.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program or baccalaureate or higher degree program that meets licensure requirements in the State of employment
  • National Certification in State of employment or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in the State of employment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Pediatric Physician Assistant experience preferred.
  • Interest or experience in the evaluation and management of pediatric headaches, tic disorders, and epilepsy preferred.
  • Experience caring for pediatric patients with neurologic conditions preferred.
  • Interest in developing and expanding pediatric neurology programs and services preferred
