Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our growing Neurosurgery team supporting Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading, PA. This position offers a dynamic blend of inpatient, outpatient, and surgical responsibilities, including first assisting in the operating room.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Physician Assistant seeking autonomy while working within a highly supportive and collaborative APP team in a comprehensive neurosurgical practice. The role provides exposure to a wide variety of neurosurgical cases and allows for active involvement in both patient management and surgical procedures. Call and weekends required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide outpatient clinic coverage for new and established patients
  • Perform inpatient rounding and consult evaluations
  • First assist in the operating room for a wide variety of neurosurgical procedures
  • Participate in surgical cases alongside neurosurgeons and residents
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, residents, and APP colleagues
  • Participate in shared call coverage as outlined by the team
Surgical & Procedural Experience

This role includes hands‑on procedural and surgical experience, including:

  • First assisting in the operating room
  • Shunt taps
  • Lumbar punctures (LPs)
  • External ventricular drain (EVD) placement
  • Assisting with a broad range of cranial and spine neurosurgical procedures

OR responsibilities may vary depending on resident coverage and team structure.
