Job summary

Wray Community District Hospital and Clinic in northeast Colorado seeks a Physician Assistant to provide direct patient care in ambulatory and hospital settings under a physician collaborative agreement.

The role covers inpatient, outpatient, and surgical care, with responsibilities from taking histories to performing procedures and assisting in orthopedic cases. Candidates must be Colorado-licensed PAs with current BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications; salary based on 2080 hours per year.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health science is required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program is required.
  • Licensed in the state of Colorado.
  • Current BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs direct patient care in ambulatory and hospital settings under a physician collaborative agreement.
  • Obtains and documents patients' histories and performs required assessments.
  • Assists in diagnostic/therapeutic procedures and in orthopedic surgical cases as First Assistant.
  • Maintains patient safety and quality care while coordinating with the medical team.

Job Description

Performs direct patient care in the ambulatory medical practice setting under a collaborative agreement with a physician. Responsible for inpatient, outpatient, and surgical care in the facility.

Essential Duties Include but Not Limited To:
  • Performs direct patient care in the ambulatory medical practice setting under a collaborative agreement with a physician. Responsible for inpatient and outpatient care in the facility
  • Obtains and documents patients' medical histories.
  • Displays appropriate medical knowledge for the scope of practice for which PA has been approved. Utilizes resources appropriately to guide medical decision-making
  • Performs and/or orders diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/tests.
  • Explains all tests/procedures to patient/family including any pre-testing requirements
  • Interprets subjective and objective data to formulate a diagnosis.
  • Appropriately defers to the physician with difficult cases or when a case is out of the scope of practice for a physician's assistant
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.
  • Attends all office/clinic and medical staff meetings as appropriate to the organization's rules and regulations.
  • Participates in orthopedic surgical cases:works in the OR with orthopedic surgeons as First Assist, Admits surgical patients performing H&P, pre-op orders, and overseeing hospitalization care of the patient
