Responsibilities

The Physician Assistant practices as a direct patient healthcare provider under the supervision of a physician. Responsibilities include:

• Assessing, diagnosing, and evaluating patients throughout the established care plan
• Obtaining health histories and performing physical examinations
• Ordering diagnostic tests and treatments
• Preparing and consenting patients for procedures
• Assisting vascular surgeons in various procedural settings
• Providing patient care in inpatient settings
• Taking first call on some nights and weekends
• Educating patients, families, and staff as needed

Practices within the guidelines of the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years PA experience preferred
• Four years of previous healthcare experience preferred
• Degree from an accredited physician assistant program
• Successful completion of an approved PA educational program
• Current licensure with South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners
• Current NCCPA certification
• Current DEA registration
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire; recertification every two years. ACLS preferred.
