Job summary

UAB Medicine seeks a licensed Physician Assistant for a busy GYN practice in Birmingham, AL. The PA will join a team of GYN physicians, support in clinic, rounding, hospital consults, and assist in surgery, with a 1:4 call rotation.

The position is full-time, Monday–Friday, rotating between clinic and hospital settings at St. Vincent's Birmingham. Eligible staff may access generous benefits including PTO, parental leave, tuition reimbursement, and more.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Physician Assistant credentialed from the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association obtained within 1 Month of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association obtained within 12 Months of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 1 year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services under the supervision of a physician.
  • Obtains patient history and performs assessment. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic procedures.
  • Provides and documents direct treatment and management of health conditions.
  • Provides counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
  • Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and care.
