Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to provide direct healthcare services. You will work in a busy GYN practice, assisting in clinic, rounding, and surgeries.

Qualifications

• Licensed Physician Assistant credentialed from the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners.
• BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association obtained within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services.
• Obtains patient history and performs assessment.
• Documents treatment and management of health conditions.

Practice Details

• Department: GYN experience preferred. Joining a busy practice of GYN physicians, supporting and assisting in clinic, rounding, hospital consults, and assisting in surgery.
• Schedule: Monday - Friday, full time, rotating in clinic and hospital. Call is 1:4 call schedule rotation.
• Work Location: St. Vincent's Birmingham

What You Will Do

• Provides direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services under the supervision of a physician.
• Obtains patient history and performs assessment. Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic procedures.
• Provides and documents direct treatment and management of health conditions.
• Provides counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options, and community resources.
• Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations, and care.

What You Will Need

Required Credentials

• Licensed Physician Assistant credentialed from the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 30 days of hire date or job transfer date.

Education
