Job summary

UAB Medicine's Cardiology Specialists of Birmingham seeks a Medical Assistant to support physicians in patient examinations and treatments. The role includes interviewing patients, measuring vitals, and preparing exam rooms, while also handling light clerical tasks and supply management.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and BLS certification within 30 days. Travel to satellite offices and on-site work at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable job-specific experience required.
• BLS certification obtained within 30 days of hire; accepted from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education/experience where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with examination and treatment of patients under physician direction.
• Assist with treatments ordered by physician and perform select clinical duties under supervision.
• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on charts; prepare treatment rooms.
• Perform basic clerical duties including answering phones, maintaining records, and filing.
• Manage basic materials, stocking supplies, and maintain a clean, orderly environment.

• Department: Cardiology Specialists of Birmingham
• Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm (travel to satellite offices required)
• Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham

What You Will Do

• Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
• Assist with treatments ordered by physician as supervised by physician or registered nurse. Perform select clinical duties.
• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts. Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Perform basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
• Perform basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

What You Will Need

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association OR American Red Cross accepted.
• Medical Assistant preferred.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
