Job Description

This Position is Contingent on Contract Award. Under the direction of the National Medical Director and collaborating with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO) of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), contracted physician assistants will deliver healthcare services to persons in custody according to the Statement of Work (SOW) and DHS directives. They will share administrative functions impacting medical services, collaborate on program planning, and ensure quality healthcare within medical units at CBP sites, including ports of entry and border stations. The role involves working alongside CBP personnel in secured federal facilities to provide healthcare for all ages, including infants, children, pregnant women, and adults.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care within scope, including emergency and urgent care.
  • Consult with physicians for complex cases, perform assessments, procedures, patient education, and refer beyond scope to local facilities.
  • Perform vital signs, apply professional principles, knowledge of drugs, maintain compliance with policies, and ensure confidentiality.
  • Participate in disease surveillance, quality management, and infection control activities.
  • Attend meetings, complete trainings, and may be required to travel or serve at various units.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program recognized by ARC-PA.
  • Current, active, and unencumbered license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the U.S.
  • Board Certification by ABMS or NCCPA preferred, must be maintained if required by licensure.
  • No history of licensure suspension or disciplinary actions; no serious criminal record.
  • Current BLS certification from AHA, ARC, or ASHI, including Adult, Pediatric, and Infant CPR.
Experience
  • Minimum one year of direct patient care as a licensed Physician Assistant.
  • Experience in detention, correctional healthcare, ambulatory, or pediatric care encouraged but not required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
Other Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; Spanish proficiency preferred.
Additional Information
