Introduction

The Department of Health Services (DHS), Southern Wisconsin Center (SWC) is recruiting for a Physician. This position will typically work between 7:30am and 4:30pm, Monday through Friday and includes weekends as needed.

Position Summary

As a Physician at SWC, you will practice medicine through the assessment and treatment of individuals with intellectual and behavioral disabilities. This includes diagnosis, treatment and disposition of assigned patients, preventive medicine, disease assessment, consultation with other medical and professional staff, prescribing medications and treatments, documentation of treatment plans and progress. Additional clinical functions include ordering laboratory work, diagnostic tests and nursing measures. This provision of medical care is part of a comprehensive 24/7 coverage program for individuals who live at SWC.

Salary Information

Starting pay is between $106.00 and $115.54 per hour (approximately $220,400 to $240,300 per year), with supplemental pay up to $21.00/hr for Board Certification or $7.00/hr for Board Certification Eligibility. A 12‑month probationary period is required.

Job Details

Applicants will be required to undergo a background check and TB test. A DEA number must be obtained by time of hire. DHS does not sponsor work visas; applicants must verify U.S. eligibility through the I‑9 form.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates must have:

  • Knowledge of behavioral science within the medical curriculum.
  • Experience with accurate, efficient, and timely medical records documentation.
