Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Flint, Michigan is seeking a physician to examine patients, take medical histories, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and provide medical or surgical treatment. You will counsel patients on illness, injuries, health conditions, and preventive care, and refer or coordinate with other providers as needed while exercising independent clinical judgment.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan license to practice medicine.
• Obtain and maintain medical staff privileges at appropriate subsidiary hospital(s).
• Board certification in area of specialty, where required.

Responsibilities

• Provides medical care and conducts patient interviews, examinations, diagnosis, and rendering of appropriate medical or surgical treatment.
• Educates patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection through interpersonal communication and/or the provision of informational materials to patients and family members.
• Assesses need for, and as may be clinically indicated, refers patients to additional health care providers for additional specialty care.
• Assesses urgency of patient medical care needs in determining necessary follow-up schedule and/or referral/consultation appointments.
• Exercises sound medical judgment in all issues pertinent to medical diagnosis and treatment on each patient’s behalf.
