Job summary

State of Maryland, Garrett County Health Department in Oakland, is seeking a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant to assist patients in recovering and maintaining daily living and work skills. Job description

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to assist patients and clients in recovering, improving and maintaining the skills needed to perform activities of daily living and work. This position will provide therapy services to patients and clients under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist and a Home Health Nurse Supervisor or Director. This position must be able to work holidays, weekends, and evenings.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners under the licensing requirements for Licensed Physical Therapy Assistants. Experience: Two years of experience as a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant. Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Therapy classification or Therapy specialty codes in the Physical Therapy Assistant field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Physical Therapy Assistant from the Maryland State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21225.
  • Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete and maintain current certification of cardio pulmonary resuscitation training.
  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
Special Requirements

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

SELECTION PROCESS

The evaluation may be a rating of your application based on your education, training and experience as they relate to the requirements of the position. Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
