Job Summary
Physical Therapy Assistants work under a physical therapist to help our residents with physical injuries or illnesses regain range of movement and control pain. Under the PT’s direction and plan of care, the PTA helps residents who have lost motor function due to accidents, illness, or age.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Works under the direction of the Physical Therapist to plan, implement, or administer programs that restore or enhance performance in individuals with functional impairments.
- Assists Physical Therapist with implementing treatment plans.
- Reports to supervisors on patients' progress and discharge recommendations.
- Attends and reports accurately a patient’s status at weekly UR meetings and interdisciplinary care plan meetings.
- Observes and records patients’ progress, response to treatment, and limitations; maintains this information in electronic medical records.
- Completes required documentation at the point of service.
- Identifies the need for modification of the treatment plan and reports to the Physical Therapist.
- Educates staff, family, and caregivers as indicated.
- Identifies needs for program development and implements programs according to company policies and procedures.
- Coordinates in-services for facility staff as needed to ensure safe and effective carry-over of Restorative Programs and overall care of the residents.
- Provides a patient-centered approach to care.
- Performs all job responsibilities professionally, upholding excellence in quality of care.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited therapy program.
- Licenses/Certifications: Current Physical Therapy Assistant state license.
- Maintain state and national licensure requirements.
- CPR certified.
- Service orientation.
- Active learning.
