Responsibilities

The Physical Therapist Assistant - Journey Traveler must be able to travel nationwide for 13-week assignments. This position provides flexibility to travel the country and work in various settings. On assignment, the Physical Therapist Assistant provides physical therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Attending and contributing to patient care, staffing conferences, and other required meetings as a representative of physical therapy, under the direction of the physical therapist.
  2. Responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of rehab services; adherence to an established plan of care, department and patient(s)' schedule, and timely documentation of services.
  3. Working with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient.
  4. Acting as an assistant to the Physical Therapist during tests, evaluations, and complex procedures.
  5. Instructing patients, families, and caregivers in skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under supervision.
  6. Maintaining appropriate and timely documentation for all patients treated.
  7. Cleansing, maintaining, and reporting the need for repair of equipment as necessary.
  8. Putting Patient Service First: Ensuring patients and families receive high-quality, compassionate care recognizing individual needs and rights.
  9. Implementing the patient's individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Physical Therapist.
  10. Providing treatments including therapeutic exercises, functional training, manual therapy, airway clearance, integumentary repair, and use of modalities.
  11. Organizing and facilitating treatment groups with the physical therapist.
  12. Performing other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required by the state of practice.
  • Must be available to travel and temporarily reside in locations outside of primary residence.
